“Breakfast like a King,  Lunch like a Prince and Dine like a Pauper,”  is a saying that you might have heard before. It means that the best way to eat is by eating a large breakfast and then eating less throughout the day.

Scientists and doctors are conducting several studies on this: “Eating a large breakfast reduces hunger cravings,  especially for sweets and fats thus counteracting weight gain,” concluded Dr Kahleova. Breakfast provides the body and brain with fuel following an overnight fast. In fact, this is where the name “breakfast” originates from. Dr Hana Kahleova said that to maintain a healthy weight people should eat breakfast and lunch, skip dinner and avoid snacks, making breakfast the largest meal of the day, and fast for up to 18 hours a night., Growing children require a lot of energy, and therefore need breakfast to succeed during the day.

Breakfast is an excellent occasion to eat together as a family when possible. For many, breakfast is a rushed occasion  in the morning due to racing to school or work to be on time. However,  on the weekend, it is a great bonding opportunity for families everywhere. For those going to work or school, breakfast is especially important because it restores glucose levels which helps with brain function. Overall, breakfast is definitely the most important meal of the day.
